Lady Dragons defeat Fort Meade, 64-38
Finishing with a flourish, pouring 19 points through the netting in the final quarter, the Lake Placid Lady Dragon varsity basketball team defeated the Fort Meade Miners, 64-38, in a game played there Friday night, Jan. 11.
Lake Placid led it, 15-8, at the end of the initial period. The count was 26-17 in favor of the Lady Green at halftime and 45-34 at the end of three. “Fort Meade just hung around, nine or ten points behind us all the way until the fourth quarter, then we took command with a 19-point rally,” said Coach Jackie Coyne. “For us it was a game of transition and defense. We ran on them, and our defense was strong. We also outsized them somewhat,” the coach said.
