Man accused of $50,000 fraud

A Lake Placid man was arrested on fraud and theft charges Monday, Feb. 4 after another man reported he had paid $49,000 for a piece of construction equipment he never received.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Richard Arthur Gillmor, 57, of 350 Bottlebrush Ave., was arrested by Highlands County Sheriff’s Office deputies and charged with second-degree grand theft and fraud. The arrest came after the victim reported that in October 2012 he received an email offering a Volvo land excavator for $49,000 and that subsequently he wired the money to a bank account.
