The girls’ varsity basketball team from Lake Placid High School finished its season Saturday night with a 62-26 loss to the powerhouse Lady Tigers of Dunbar High School in Ft. Myers in the Class 4A regional quarterfinals. The Lake Placid girls should hold their heads high. They represented their school well against a team that returned most of its players from last year’s squad that took home the state championship.

Dunbar was impressive in its win Saturday night. But the Lady Dragons roared this season, ravaging most of its competition in route to the weekend match-up. Just days earlier, the local team earned the right to face Dunbar with a 63-39 victory over Tampa Catholic, another powerhouse team.
