For the past several Christmas seasons, the Town of Lake Placid has had little to show as far as special lighting in the uptown area. Faint lavender lights wrapped around antique-looking light posts were just about all area residents could look forward to, to brighten the mood.
Those lights — as meager as they were — will not be in place this season. Town officials said the cost of changing out lights, coupled with the theft of some strands of lights, has brought an end to the tradition.
