The holidays are over and Ken and I have started thinking about our next project. My gardens are declining with the cooler weather. But I have to resist pruning, planting, or fertilizing.
My neighbor down the street always forgets winter is here until March. As soon as the temperature dips into the 30s for a few hours the plants turn brown and he is outside pruning and fertilizing. When the next night arrives with 30 degree temperatures, the pruned plants are now exposed to the cold allowing frost damage to the roots. He wonders why his plants die. By pruning the plants before the threat of frost is over he kills the plants.
