Lake Placid Elementary and Middle School children students in grades 5-8 had an opportunity to express views on their pride in America by writing an essay on the theme “What Does the National Anthem Mean to Me?” as part of an essay contest hosted by Lake Placid Elks Lodge 2661.
Claiming first place and a $100 award was Kasandra Lorezo. Aniyah Hilla was the second place winner and took home $50. In third place was Alana Davis who was presented with $25.
