State and national flags were ordered Tuesday to be displayed at half-staff to honor Andrew Jackson, a Sebring attorney and community leader who passed away early that day while under hospice care. The proclamation came from the Board of County Commissioners.

Jackson was well-known in Highlands County and the surrounding area. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of South Florida Community College and a former legal counsel for Glades Electric Cooperative.
