Friends Choir leaves LPHS students mesmerized
The Friends Choir of Martin County visited Lake Placid High School this week, energetic and ready to perform. Special needs children and adults, ranging from ages 6 to 33 sang songs including, “God Bless the Broken Road,” and “Everyday People.” Not only did they sing, but they also signed all of their songs, using American Sign Language.
The group was founded in 1989 by Connie Dain, a teacher at Jensen Beach High School, who has a disabled daughter herself. The group travels all over Florida, inspiring audiences as they go.
