Jermaine S. Turner of Lake Placid laid down 175 feet of skid marks as he dried to avoid collision with an SUV.
An 80-year-old Sebring man was seriously injured Thursday when he drove his 2010 Dodge SUV into the path of a tractor-trailer rig on U.S. 27 in front of Lake Josephine RV Resort, according to reports filed with the Florida Highway Patrol.
George W. Barton was leaving the RV resort, intending to cross the southbound lanes of the four-lane highway to go north toward Sebring. Instead, he drove directly into the path of a southbound 1996 Freightliner truck driven by Jermaine S. Turner of Lake Placid. Turner received minor injuries in the crash.
