Lake Placid Police Department officer Heather Mulligan has been credited with finding a lost Immokalee child early Monday morning after she responded to an “Amber Alert” that was sent out across the region.

Mulligan, who has completed training as an Amber Alert responder, was one of thousands who received the notice about 1 a.m. to watch for 2-year-old Denise Hernandez. Mulligan said she immediately drove to Immokalee and joined the search.
