Christmas lights, town administrator top town council discussions
The Lake Placid Town Council met in chambers Monday night to discuss a myriad of issues ranging from Christmas decorations to mowing contracts and grant applications.
Public Works Director John Komasa was asked why there were no Christmas lights for the town this year. Komasa contended that it was a financial decision, explaining it costs $1,000 per year to maintain holiday lights because of vandalism or wear. Mayor Holbrook commented that he wanted lights on the gazebo and there are lights there. It was decided the town would explore putting decorations on the decorative lamp posts. Komasa said the cheapest lamp decorations cost around $300 each. It was also suggested that the community could help with the cost by “sponsoring” the decorations.
