Holiday parade rained out; reset for Saturday
A storm front that stalled over Lake Placid brought late afternoon rains Saturday and forced the town’s much anticipated Christmas parade to be postponed. More than an inch of rain was recorded in just more than an hour in downtown Lake Placid.
Many parade fans held their ground, hunkering under business awnings and canopies or waiting in their vehicles to witness what would have been a soggy parade. Shortly before the 7 p.m. start time, a fire truck and police car slowly followed the parade route, alerting waiting parade fans the march was not coming that night.
