Highlands County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Megno collapsed at his home Tuesday night, Dec. 4, and was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, said sheriff’s office spokeswoman Nell Hays. He was 55 years old.

A 12-year veteran of the Avon Park Police Department and Avon Park Middle School resource officer, Megno joined the sheriff’s office a few months ago when the departments were consolidated.
