“Sometimes people just need to see it to believe it,” says Ellen (Pixi) Kehoe, Fire Marshal. That’s why the Haines City Fire & Rescue will intentionally light two fires in front of a live audience at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23, during Ribs on the Ridge. The fires will be in the parking lot of Daniel Jenkins Academy, 701 Ledwith Ave.

“There’s nothing like the heat and smoke of a real fire to help adults and children understand just how fast a home fire is,” says Kehoe. “With our side-by-side comparison we can show both the danger of fire and the value of having a fire sprinkler system installed.”
