Albert L. Blackford, 92, passed away from natural causes, Thursday,
Oct. 25, 2012,
in Bartow.

Born
Oct. 11, 1920, in Wilmore, Ky, he was the son of the late Melvin Knight and Nancy Edith Blackford.

Mr. Blackford was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

He was a Mason for over 50 years and a life member of the American Legion, Post #3 , the VFW of Bartow, DAV and a member of Homeland First Baptist Church.

He was also a Honorary Kentucky Colonel.

Along with his parents, Mr. Blackford is preceded in death by his brother, William B. Blackford, two sons; William L. Blackford, Hugh Lynn Blackford and granddaughter, Tracey Blackford.

Mr. Blackford is survived by his wife of 65 years Gladys Blackford of Bartow; son Melvin Blackford and wife Keitha of Bartow; and his grandson Daniel Blackford and wife Linda of Bartow. He also leaves behind his great grandchildren; Cody, Shawn, Cory, and Troy.

The family will receive friends Friday, Oct. 26 from 6-8 p.m. at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow.

Funeral services will follow Saturday at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Homeland.

Interment will follow at Gandy Cemetery in Connersville.
