Ray W. Lowers, 53, of Lakeland, passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale from complications of pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded by family and close friends.

Born March 10, 1959, in Bartow, Mr. Lowers was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a building inspector for Polk County for more than 10 years.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Terri Lowers, and daughter Lindsay Lowers, both of Lakeland; father and mother, Charles and Rena Lowers of Bartow; sister, Lauren Emerson and husband Steve of Brooksville; nephew, Cory Emerson of Gainesville; in-laws, Gene and Jeannie Austin of Bartow; and brother-law, Wes Austin of Lafayette, La.

A memorial service will be held Thursday , Sept. 6, at 11 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church, Bartow. Family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 355 S. Florida Ave., Bartow, FL 33830.
