Pickup strikes Titusville officer
at crash site
By JOSEPH WILSON
TITUSVILLE (AP) — The driver of a pickup truck who crashed into
a Titusville police
officer at a crash site is not expected to be charged in the accident.
67-year-old Timothy Ring told police he didn’t see the officer, who was helping another driver who crashed into a light pole on Friday. Authorities say that crash knocked out power on the streets.
The officer, who was off duty at the time, was taken to the hospital. He’s listed in stable condition.
The driver who crashed into the pole, 26-year-old Travis Potts, was arrested at the scene. He’s being held in the Brevard County Jail on a charge of reckless driving. Jail records don’t list an attorney.
Witnesses said they saw Potts speeding and driving in circles before the crash.
