The last time the “County Property Tax Exemption” question appeared on the ballot, in 2010, it failed by less than 500 votes; it was the second consecutive time, as it had appeared on the 2008 ballot.

The exemption asked voters to consider a property tax exemption for new businesses, as well as the expansion of existing businesses that are considering creating new, full-time jobs in the county. Its purpose is to woo new businesses while at the same time assist current employers.
