Road re-discovery is tale of intrique

Lloyd Harris, local historian and member of the Historical Commission, holds the rapt attention of the fifty or so history buffs attending a Lunch and Learn recently at the Polk County History Center. Harris's presentation was on the Seminole Wars and the creation of the Zachary Taylor Road, located on Saddle Creek and recently awarded preservation status.
Tales of Florida’s sad history of it’s Native Americans mingled with narratives of the can-do attitude of the early military Tuesday to form a fascinating history of Central Florida.
