With BOCC chairman Sam Johnson looking on, Paula Dockery, who term limited out as a state senator, listens to words of tribute from other commissioners.
Former Florida Sen. Paula Dockery was recognized and honored for her years of service (1994-2012), as one of two presentations by Polk County Commissioners, at its Sept. 4 regular BOCC meeting; the other presentation recognized recipients of Polk County Parks and Natural Services’ Youth Athletic League Recognition program. Awards for the latter were presented for the Coach of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, and the League of Distinction.
Based upon the warmth of the words spoken by chairman Sam Johnson, it was apparent he and fellow commissioners held Dockery in high regard. He spoke of her generosity and her always being available to speak and/or see him whenever he had a concern. That was of importance to Johnson, especially during his first term as a county commissioner.
