A Bartow native was found dead in Lake Hendry in Fort Meade Thursday afternoon after a two-day search for him after a boat he was in sank, the Florida Wildlife Commission reports.

Jerry Carter, 49, of Bartow was one of three men in a jon boat that starting sinking in the lake at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. Members of the Polk County Sheriff’s dive team found his body Thursday.
