PUNTA GORDA — The Captain Archer Memorial Classic tournament brings out the best wrestling programs in the area in the two-day event held at Charlotte High School. The 43-year-old tournament held the junior varsity portion on Friday, with many of the area high schools participating.
The Lemon Bay Mantas were one of the schools involved in the two-day event. Coach Dave Garlock brought his nine members of the Mantas wrestling team knowing that they would not be able to win the event because of not being able to fill all the weight classes. For many wrestling programs the idea of just facing better competition and having four to five matches is the reason for entering the tournament.
