Donald Hilton and his fiance Celeste Driscoll, both of Englewood, exit Charlotte County Health Deparment's Englewood clinic on San Casa Drive. Hilton waited two months to see a doctor and on Wednesday, the day of his appointment, was told he had to go to Port Charlotte to see a primary care doctor.

Hilton said the health department's phasing out of primary care services would definitely affect him if her weren't able to get care in immediate area.

ENGLEWOOD — Donald Hilton waited a long time before he was able to see a doctor at the Charlotte County Health Department’s Englewood clinic on San Casa Drive.

On Wednesday, the Englewood man turned up for his 1 p.m. appointment just as he was instructed, only to be told by staff there was no doctor available to see him. If he wanted to see a doctor, he was told, he would have to go to the health department’s Port Charlotte office some 20 miles away.
