Free is the operative word Saturday at the Venice Airport where the Venice Aviation Society Inc. (VASI) will celebrate its 20th anniversary with an open house.

Airplanes have been flying into Venice at least since Jan. 13, 1927, when a plane landed in front of the Hotel Venice with a delivery of strawberries for hotel guests.
