Elementary wins countywide contest

During an Arbor Day tree planting celebration, students, staff and volunteers at Englewood Elementary School received a surprise. The school won a county-wide competition out of 40 schools judged, recognizing the alliance between community volunteers and the school. Ronald Kar, president of the Partnership for Alliances Linking Schools presented teacher Joan LaBadie with a certificate. Over the past two years, students have studied butterfly life cycles and planted butterfly and vegetable gardens with the garden club’s help.
