Pelicans engage in what appears to be synchronized dive bombing on Englewood Beach, where a bonanza of bait fish last week drew birds as far as the eye could see and gave bird watchers a treat. The feeding frenzy lasted several days.

ENGLEWOOD — Beachfront residents and beach strollers reported seeing an unusual number of birds last week on Manasota Key and nearby barrier islands feeding on fish close to shore.
