It looked like a perfect opportunity for the DeSoto County football team to build momentum, gain some confidence and get back on the winning track.

They were hosting Bayshore in front of a big homecoming crowd. The Bruins had just come off a game in which they led 31-0, yet lost 41-38. It was one of the biggest margins of a lead lost in any high school game in the country that week. Bayshore had only one win this season and was averaging 23 points a game, while the Bulldogs were still averaging over 32 points a game.
