• Something close to an era came to an end Thursday when the Tampa Bay Lightning decided to release center Vincent Lecavalier, once the top pick in the NHL draft. Since being drafted (and infamously referred to by then-Bolts owner Art Williams as the “Michael Jordan of hockey”), he’s the 11th leading active NHL scorer — one place behind now-former teammate Martin St. Louis.
