Long road trips and unfamiliar teams await several area girls basketball teams as regional playoffs begin today.

North Port High School, which won the District 8A-8 championship, is the only area team to host the first round of regionals. The Bobcats will host Newsome, the 8A-7 runner-up. The teams haven’t played each other this season.
