DeSoto County softball Coach Billy Hines is back at the helm and looking forward to another season of Bulldog Softball. He says the team. “May have to learn how to play small ball and rely on defense and pitching this season.”
Recently deceased major league manager Earl Weaver used to describe his Baltimore Orioles offense as “a bloop, a bleeder and a blast.” That is what the DeSoto County Bulldogs have had in the past few years.
They would get a hit or walk or be safe on an error and then one of their big bats would drive them home with a long blast over the fence. While the days of watching Brandi Hazen, Lynsey Rector or Katie Hunter and Kolbie Lipe swing the big bats are over, it isn’t time to call the power company just yet.
