SARASOTA — Charlotte High School’s Mallory Burton entered Thursday’s game against Sarasota High School averaging 23.3 points per game. The Tarpons needed a basket in the final seconds to manage a season-low 20 points in a 49-20 defeat.

The Sailors (9-0, 4-0) jumped on the Tarpons (6-3, 2-2) early and were up nine at halftime. A 24-point third quarter for Sarasota put the game on ice.
