Two girls injured
in go-kart wreck

LAKE SUZY — The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office reported two girls were air-lifted by helicopter to Bayfront Medical around 7:30 Tuesday evening after the go-kart they were riding crashed into a concrete culvert. According to DCOS’s report, a 10-year-old girl was driving with an 8-year-old girl as a passenger in the area of Cedar Avenue, off Peace River St. The girls said the steering wheel broke, causing them to crash. One girl’s arm appeared broken and the other said her stomach was hurting. Upon landing, Aeromed evaluated the girls and transported both for medical treatment in St. Petersburg.
