Beatrice Eleanor Simpson Barnett

Beatrice Eleanor “Beech” Simpson Barnett, 80, passed away Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at St. Joseph East Hospital in Lexington, Ky.

She was born Nov. 13, 1931, in Crab Orchard, Ky., the daughter of Garfield and Anna Brock Simpson.

Beatrice was a member of Valley Baptist Church. She was a former volunteer for Berea Hospital. Beatrice was former part owner of DeSoto Groves in Arcadia, Fla.

She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Donald) Dozier of Olathe, Kan., and Teresa (Stephen) Mosley of Macon, Ga.; grandchildren; Renee Podrez, Angela Kesling, Michelle Dozier, Sarah Fugate, and Abby, Katherine and Stephen Mosley; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Lillie Mae Durham, Lucille Pingleton and Wanda Owens; brothers, Clyde, Melvin and Danny Simpson; and several nieces and nephews. Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Barnett, in 1984; parents; and brothers, Louis, Beckham and Donald Simpson.

Visitation was set for Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at Valley Baptist Church at Copper Creek. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at the church, with Brother Tony Shelton officiating. Burial will be at Brock Cemetery. Casket-bearers include David Croley, Scott Owens, Dennis Durham, Logan Shelton, and Darrell, Curtis and Keith Simpson. Expressions of sympathy can be made online at www.mcknightfuneralhome.com.
