Barbara Ann Smith, 70, of Arcadia, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, in Franklin, Ga.

She was born March 8, 1942, in Carroll County, Ga.

Barbara moved to Arcadia in 1983 from Carrollton, Ga. She enjoyed reading her Bible, portrait painting, cooking, sewing, traveling and, most of all, spending quality time with her family. Barbara was of the Church of God faith.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 29 years, Paul “Pete” Smith Jr. of Arcadia; daughter, Belinda Anne (Bobby) Harper of Franklin; sons, William Lewis (Wanda) Johnson of Franklin, Robbie Joe (Kelli) Johnson of Douglasville, Ga., James Warren (Donna) Johnson of Waco, Ga., Leon (Jackie) Smith of Arcadia, Paul “Buster” Smith III of North Florida, and William Brandon Smith of Arcadia; sister-in-law, Janet O’Drain of Arcadia; niece, Eva Crawford of Arcadia; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, William and Gladys Gowins Davis; daughter, Elizabeth Gay Johnson; and sister, Peggy Elizabeth Farr.

Visitation will be conducted from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today, Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, from Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home Chapel, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia. Graveside funeral services and burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at Joshua Creek Cemetery, with Minister Eddie Coban officiating.
