The importance (and ordeal) of just one vote

Who knew that exercising one’s right to vote could be such an ordeal? First, I’ve had to endure a mail box full of political ads daily for months, followed by endless mud-slinging television ads, and worst of all, incessant phone calls that tried to tell me how to vote. Then came the actual day to vote.

I had no idea just how bad the experience would turn out statewide. Countless thousands of voters waited in line all of Tuesday and into the wee hours of Wednesday, which led to their votes not being completely tallied until days after the election was over. And this resulted in us “no counts” being the butt of jokes once again (remember the hanging chads of 2000?) and our state being nicknamed “Flori-duh” by media pundits.
