The Twentieth Century Literary Club met at the graceful country home of Connie Bateman for the spring picnic on May 20. Assisting as cohostesses were the 2012-2013 officers. The ladies were able to tour the recently added patio, fire pit and outdoor kitchen and the refurbished grounds before the torrential rain began. The residence was wonderfully decorated, as always, following the club’s theme for the coming year: Oh, The Places You’ll Go! from the book by Dr. Seuss. Different areas of the home were staged with items from designated areas: Europe, Africa, America, The South, The West and New York were featured places. Connie’s creativity was represented in antique pieces, travel trunks, homemade treasures and souvenirs with a book selected as representative of the area. An exciting year beckons as the club travels the world through the wonder of literature.
Following a heartfelt blessing given by Linda Williams, the ladies enjoyed delicious summer salads and tasty desserts.
