Members of the Sarasota County Fire Department received the Phoenix Award last week after saving the life of 18-month-old Nathan Bates who was found lifeless in a pool in February.

An Alabama native is on a one-year mission to help Charlotte County.

Allison Tyler is in the final stages as the community needs director for the United Way of Charlotte County. As an AmeriCorps VISTA member, she has committed one year of service to working on a project for a nonprofit.
