For those of you who read this column each month, you already know I make every effort to keep on top of scams and frauds here in the county, in surrounding counties, around the state and nationwide. So, even I was surprised to learn of three new ones since last month, all of which I want to share, since providing folks with information about scams and frauds will, hopefully, prevent them from becoming victims.
The first involves Walmart and some of our neighbors in Charlotte County have reported it to their local sheriff. Internet users are receiving an e-mail claiming to be from Walmart and asking recipients to take part in a quick and easy survey. Just for responding, the recipients will receive a $150 credit to their accounts. They simply need to go to a link to access the survey.
