Brenda Johnson poses with "Santa Claus" just after winning the DeSoto Arts and Humanities Council's raffle for a handmade quilt.

The quilt, which contains 15 special blocks featuring DeSoto County landmarks, was handmade by a group of women who gather monthly at the County Extension office. The women donated the quilt to DAHC, and the sale of raffle tickets generated more than $1,000 for the arts group. The funds will be used, in part, to support DAHC's scholarship and children's art programs.

Ironically, Johnson herself had made one of the quilt blocks. She generously decided to donate the quilt and it will soon be on display in the Tax Collector's Office. Johnson owns the DeSoto Sign Co.
