Local soldier helps Hurricane Sandy victims

Leonel Guerra, a native of Arcadia, Fla., and a heavy equipment mechanic with a detachment of 8th Engineer Support Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, based out of Camp Lejeune, N.C., breaks down a fallen deck in a residential yard in Breezy Point, N.Y., on Nov. 6. Arcadia native, LCpl. Leonel Guerra is with the 8th Engineer Support Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group. He is currently deployed in Breezy Point, New York and is working on Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.
The Marines from 8th Engineer Support Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, who are in New York to support humanitarian operations with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, came equipped with chainsaws, crowbars, sledgehammers and other tools to move any obstacles they came across during the cleanup in public spaces.
