Gelbs shine despite family’s loss

A week ago, Lakeland Jr Bassmasters lost boat Capt. Gene Gelb, following a long illness.

Gene’s son, Gabe Gelb, and grandson, Brecken Stinnett, showed their courage as they fished the Kissimmee tournament Saturday, July 6, with the help of Bobby Lane and Arnie Lane as boat captains. Gabe, fishing with Bobby, won second place, and Brecken, fishing with Arnie, caught his first two fish in competition for the year.


11-14 year olds

First: Connor Price with 9.52 pounds

Second: Evan Barnett with 8.79 pounds and big bass of 6.26 pounds

Third: Gage Waters with 7.46 pounds

Fourth: Logan Hill with 7.34 pounds

Fifth: Jackson Williams with 7.33 pounds

15-18 year olds

First: Chris Cooper with 14.45 pounds

Second; Gabe Gelb with 10.57 pounds

Third: Dustin Bozeman with
9.96 pounds

Fourth: Chandler Cornelius with
8.56 pounds

Fifth: Jacob Rogers with 6.98 pounds

Jordan Stewart took big bass with
6.36 pounds
