With take-off out of Cannon, the field of 14 anglers drove straight to Spring Lake to fish its clear water. Spring Lake produced a steady stream of 3-5 pound bass for most of the anglers, an unusual treat that had camera phones blazing at weigh-in. We’ve never had a tournament with so many good fish for most every angler on the water. Jacob Rogers and Gabe Gelb smashed the competition with 17.4 pounds anchored by Rogers’
5 pound big bass.

The last qualifying tournament for Angler of the Year will be the Senior Sting on Kissimmee, May 11, 2013, as seniors Dustin Bozeman, Luke Ferguson, Jerod Gadd, Robert Wiggins, Josh Parker and CJ Wright fish their last high school tournament with Bartow High School Yellow Jackets. Luke Ferguson, 2012 Angler of the Year, leads the team this year going into the Sting.
The season-ending Classic, lake to be determined, will be June 8.

BHS Jackets Bass Fishing Team competed on the South Winter Haven Chain Saturday April 27, launching from Lake Cannon for the Spring Classic. Seven teams combined for 37 bass, total weight 78 pounds 14 ounces. Ten bass weighed between 3.5 to 5 pounds.
Jacket Champions: Gabe Gelb and Jacob Rogers total weight 17 pounds, 6 ounces.
Second Place: Steven Singletary and Hunter Gadd 13 pounds, 14 ounces.
Third Place: Luke Ferguson and Micah Patel 12 pounds, 1 ounce.
Fourth Place: Lady Jacket Kaitlyn Boswell and Ryan Thomas 11 pounds 12 ounces.

Lakeland Junior Bassmasters’ next tournament is Saturday, May 4, and is tentatively scheduled for Lake Hartridge depending on water levels.

The BASS Junior State Championship is scheduled June 22-23 on Lake Okeechobee out of Roland Martin’s Marina in Clewiston.
The Florida BASS Nation High School Series has a two-day tournament June 22-23 on Lake Okeechobee out of Roland Martin’s Marina for two person high school angler teams. This is the new series’ second event, the first being on Toho last month. The High School Series will then begins the 2013-14 season on Oct. 6, in Central Florida, but no named lake yet. Held in conjunction with the BASS Jr State Championship, the new FBFN High School Series will hold its second tournament of the season on Lake Okeechobee, June 22-23.
Open to all high school anglers, each two-person team must attend the same high school but does not have to be a member of a BASS High School club.
