Dustin Bozeman claimed the 2012 Angler of the Year title for the 15-18 year olds for a second year in a row, while Dalton Gorman took the title for the 11-14 year olds.

In the 15-18 year old group, Mike Boswell finished second, Luke Ferguson was third, and Harry Linsinbigler took fourth.

In the 11-14 year old group, Jackson Williams placed second, Chris Cooper took third, and Cole Schmucker was fourth.

Big Bass honors went to Luke Ferguson for the older group and Sammy Barnes for the younger group. Dalton Gorman, Dustin Bozeman, Mike Boswell, Luke Ferguson, and Harry Linsinbigler each received Century Awards for going more than 100 pounds, the first time anglers have achieved this honor in club history.

Rookies of the year were Harry Linsinbigler and Jackson Williams.

Mike Boswell graduated out of Lakeland Jr. Bassmasters and will continue tournament fishing with other clubs.

The year 2012 proved to be an epic season for the Lakeland Jr. Bassmasters. The club grew by 75 percent, resulting in fierce competition as the anglers vied for position.

For the first time in the club’s history, five anglers ended the year with more than 100 pounds.

As a team, the anglers had strong showings at both the state and regional levels. Lakeland Jrs. took second (Bozeman), third (Ferguson) and fourth (Linsinbigler) places at states for the older division and second place (Patel) in the younger division.

Bozeman, last year’s Jr. state champion, won second place at regionals. Four older division anglers represented the team as marshals during the B.A.S.S. Elite Series tournaments in Florida, and several anglers had the privilege of attending iCast 2012 in Orlando.

Club President, Martin Bozeman, worked with sponsors and tackle companies to provide gear for the anglers through monthly raffles and discounts culminating in an end of year banquet and special raffle where the anglers walked away with more than $6,000 worth of gear to begin the 2013 season.

As all the highly competitive top-ranking anglers in the younger division move to the older division in 2013, the new season holds the promise of another amazing year.

The next tournament will be Jan. 12, 2013, on Lake Parker.
