The Polk County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Section confirmed a positive rabies case in Bartow, the eighth positive case in Polk County this year.

On Monday, Nov. 26 a bat was impounded by Animal Control from Summerlin Academy at 1508 Jackson Ave., Bartow and the school’s commandant informed the officer that a female child touched the bat.
