Nelson D. Lunn, 78, of Tallahassee, passed away on Dec. 18, 2012.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn Lunn.

Nelson was born and raised in Fort Meade, Fla., and moved from Bartow to Tallahassee in 1968. He always considered Fort Meade his home.

Nelson served his country in the U.S. Army and retired from the Olin Corp. in St. Marks. He would later begin a second career for the Leon County Sheriff’s Office where he worked for 10 years before again retiring.

He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed golf, hunting and fishing. He also loved coaching youth league sports, and influenced the lives of countless young people.

Nelson was a 33rd degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite. He also was a member of the Tallahassee Elks Lodge #937.

Survivors include three children, Debbie Howell of Fort Meade; Mike Lunn and wife, Lane, of Tallahassee; and Donnie Lunn and wife, Lisa, of Monticello; two brothers, Roger Titus and wife, Dorinka, of Winter Haven; and Lon Titus and wife, Phyllis, of Lakeland; five grandchildren; Matthew, Ben, and David all of Tallahassee, and Chance and Zachary of both of Monticello; and his mother-in-law, Velma Howell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Adeline King Lunn; his sister, Lora Osceola; and two brothers, Edward and Kenneth Titus.

A memorial service was held on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 at Bevis Funeral Home.

A reception immediately followed the service.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Nelson may be made to the Fort Meade Historical Society, One Tecumseh Ave.,
Fort Meade, FL 33841.
