A mobile library is now up and running as part of Polk County Public Schools’ Books Bridge Program. It is an initiative aimed at increasing student literacy by motivating students to read more. There will be weekly visits to Auburndale Central Elementary, Oscar J. Pope Elementary, Kingsford Elementary and Alturas Elementary in hopes of forming a literacy bridge between home and school and between teacher and parents.
The Books Bridge mobile library will serve preschool students and parents in the morning and elementary students and parents in the afternoon. The mobile library will be staffed with a certified library media specialist and a paraeducator/driver.
