Now that it is April, spring in to reading with your child. Bring them for one of our weekly story times. For 3-5 year-olds. It is Wednesdays at 10 a.m. and 18 months to
2 years on Thursday at 10 a.m.
Poetic teens with a flair for writing come join us on at 3 p.m. April 11, for our Poetry Slam. Bring your own works or even your favorite poem by another author. Refreshments will be served.
The Central Florida Hearing Center will be back on from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 12 to give out free amplified phones to the hard of hearing. Eligible participants include Permanent Florida Residents, 3 or older, certified as hard of hearing, deaf, deaf/blind or speech impaired. Sign up now for our April and May Tech Intern spots. Our own version of a geek squad will be available April 17 and May 1 and 15 from 3-5 p.m. to provide assistance for patrons needing technological guidance. With the exception of library related assistance, Tech Interns from the IB Program will be here to help. Bring in your iPads, cellphones, and laptops. Due to popularity, pre-registration is required. Walk-ins will be accommodated when available.
Join us Saturday, at 11:30 a.m. April 13, for our Friends of the Library Annual Spring Brunch. Lloyd Harris will be introducing his new book Bartow (Images of America) and sharing some photos not included in the book. You do not have to be a member of the Friends of the Library to attend. The Friends of the Library are among our biggest supporters and we encourage you to join and become part of this wonderful group. Cost of the Lunch is $5. Reserve your tickets by April 10. Payment will be taken at the door.
Need to write a resume? The library will be offering a class on how to prepare one. It will tell you what formats to use, what words to place to make yours stand out and you will find out what makes a good resume work for you. This will take place at 4 p.m. Monday, April 22. Space is very limited, so please call today to make a reservation. People with their own laptops are welcome. Be sure to bring a Flash (USB) drive to save your resume.
