The Saint Thomas Aquinas counsel 12314 of the Knights of Columbus on Friday, March 15, gave to checks totalling $582 to the Jean ODell Learning Center in Bartow. It is proceeds from the counsels Tootsie Roll drive and will be utilized to support the educational programs for students at the Center. Twenty-one students attending schools in Bartow won awards at the Annual Polk County History Fair which was Friday, Feb. 22 in Bartow.
Students demonstrated their research skills by writing historical papers, by giving history-based performances, creating exhibits, documentaries, history focused web pages and other vehicles. Hundreds of entries were placed and those who placed first or second will represent Polk County in state competition in May.
