Doug Lockwood talks at the committee of 100 meeting Friday, March 8 about the work a committee has done on the schools in Winter Haven. The president of the Committee of 100 Brian Hinton listens.
Education in a community can help the health of its economy and Doug Lockwood, a Winter Haven attorney, told members of the Committee of 100 group Friday what has been happening in that community to bring up the status of education there.
The Public Education Partnership he helped start in Winter Haven was formed because of the poor situation the schools had fallen into there. And in the partnership, which is through the Chamber of Commerce, a comeback has started. The Committee of 100 is an business-based agency of the Bartow Chamber of Commerce.
