A Bartow woman was sentenced to five years probation after changing a man’s retirement account to her name when he was incapacitated in the emergency room.

Denise Tobin, 48, who was arrested in December 2011, was sentenced Wednesday in a plea agreement and faced up to 45 years in prison for the crimes of exploitation of an elderly person and theft, though with this sentence she is deprived of a main way of making a living, plus she reimbursed the original beneficiaries $275,000 of the $347,000 she stole, the State Attorney’s Office said.
